Snow in August

Your ignorant hands traced new outlines
through my barren ivory landscape.
A chill resides in my heart,
frozen and cracked winters ago;
the damage long done.
Summer brought a teasing thaw,
but iced over once more by you.

Peering at each other
over the towering walls of immature forts.
I lay back in the reverie of a powdered angel,
while you thrust a snowball my way.
