a simple bio in truncated form.
or rather, me being so egotistical as to ramble about, me.

my life is a green pepper omelette.

I miss snow days. Laura- I tend to go by that name a lot, go figure. Online you may find me under the aliases/screennames of "StrummerGroupie," "Training In Vain," "tsaraven" and at times varations of "lady strange" of course. The latter being a Def Leppard song, not some comment on my being. Although you may believe otherwise. I like colonial history. I like Daria. But I miss My So-Called Life. I like feta cheese. I hate homophobes. English major. Women's Studies minor. The Clash are my biggest obsession; I love Strummer, but I love Jonesy too. An oddity in the world I know. I live in the southeastern US for now. This can and will change in the future. Hopefully not too distant. However, I was born in Jersey in the vast suburbia west of the big NYC. I attended elementary school up there, wanted to Punky Brewster my room, and enjoyed the scenery of snow and long-haired Jersey metal boys. Life up there was pretty happenin'; there's my lovely first abode over there, but I unfortunately had to move to some redneck- ville near the NC/VA border to begin Junior High.

"For non-conformity the world whips you with its displeasure" - Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Self-Reliance"

Wow talk about perfect timing huh. The innocence of thinking a glass of Pepsi-milk (oh don't gag, you mixed ice cream in root beer didn't you?) made everything right with the world ended. And I really wished there was a Narnia in my closet. Thankfully I've gotten away from there at least. Although the experience left me with quite the proverbial chip on my shoulder that I currently channel into many an artistic and political debate. Art and politics are my two passions on this bloody planet.

the best books" - Ralph Waldo Emerson, "The American Scholar"

if you want to know something about what makes me tick,
you could either get me drunk and have me spill my darkest secrets-
or for a healthier choice, you could simply find out what kinds of
music are important to me. Music makes my world turn, all that jazz,
and all those cliches. I love writing and acting also, but I love
singing most of all. Hopefully along with a move, the future will
also bring a band. As you might come to realize if you continue to
snoop around this site, if you know what music is important to me,
then you have me and what's happened in my life pretty much figured out.

...my favorite safe crush
Mr. Strummer...

My top five pet peeves:
1. Irrationality.
2. Histrionics.
3. Hypocritical and veiled narcissism.
4. Stupidity. (the refusal to change ignorance)
5. Rigidity.
there. nice and specific.

To provide myself with some Playboy credibility:

Turn-ons: intelli-punk boys (see Strummer and Rollins), heated political debates, English majors, hot tubs, foot massages, acoustic renditions, the unconventional, road crew members who are decent (is that many?), the weather channel, satire, and music, obviously.

My how kinky.

Turn-offs: Drama Queens, two-facing, jealousy, clueless homophobes, selective judgments and goodguy badges, dealing with muggles for too long, people who don't appreciate my Aquarianess ("foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.." -Emerson)

boys who play the accordian are sexy.

Ambitions: To travel in Europe, to drive cross-country, to keep Jack Off Jill alive in a cover band, to have a few more moments of bliss to make up for all the rest, and to rock the world.
